July 19 - 23 - Hastings, Peterborough (say goodbye to the Hollwedels) and on to Bobcaygeon

We motored to Hastings on the 19th going through 3 more locks and docked at the Hastings Village Marina.  We were next to a couple that lives on their houseboat half the year and the other half in Florida!  They were a great help!  Walked the town (such that it was) and had ice cream, of course. We tatted up - anchor steam tattoos - temporary, of course.

The next day we cruised through more gorgeous waterways and the Otonabee River where we saw cows drinking up the water, among other wildlife. The lakes are just full of classic cabins and idyllic settings.  We arrived in Peterborough after passing through two more locks and docked at the marina there!  Walked the town and had dinner at a local venue.

On Monday we visited the Canadian Canoe Museum.  What an incredible display and history!  Walked back to Cady Girl on the Trans Canadian trail, walked over lock #20, and ate lunch at a dockside grill.

Had to say goodbye to Lisa and Don - they were a great team to travel with. Don W "voluntold" Don H to install a new toilet seat and oil some doors!  They are both great kitchen aides too! We miss them already!

On Tuesday we went through the highest hydraulic lock in the world at lock # 21 - 65 feet high!  It's like a giant bathtub with boats in it!  Believe it or not, it was easy - you just put one line around a railing and up you go!  After passing through 5 more locks, we were hoping to spend the night at Young's Point.  But alas, no room.  So, we went through two more locks and spent the night at Burleigh Falls, lock #28.  It was a peaceful spot, and we walked down to see the falls.  This drive was one of the prettiest yet!

Today we motored to Bobcaygeon and are spending two nights here!  It's a cute little town and very busy with loopers and other tourists!  More details to come....
