June 1 - June 3 Stratford and Stamford

We left Pilot's Point in Westbrook CT in rough water - how unusual - NOT!

A scary Coast Guard call came in fairly soon after we were underway, that there was a downed aircraft in the Long Island Sound near New Haven.  As the broadcast continued, we knew that the plane was submerged but that two survivors were afloat.  The Branford CT fire department assisted the Coast Guard in rescuing those survivors despite 6-foot seas.  Thank God for First Responders!

Despite the rough water, we made it to Stratford and anchored at Nell's Island.  First time anchoring this trip!  We anchored in site of the now defunct Sikorsky Aircraft Factory - they manufactured the first US helicopter in 1942. Coastal Connecticut is known for its prowess during the US Industrial Revolution.

The following day we took the tender out, cruised the Housatonic River and ate at a fantastic restaurant, the Dockside!  Upon returning to Cady Girl, we noticed a Fire Department boat was attempting to hail us using their emergency siren.  We notified them from the tender, that Cady Girl was ours and they said, they were doing a "Wellness Check." We know we're old. but what the heck???  It was good for a laugh!

I guess that just goes to show you that there is always somebody watching you - even out in the river!

On the 3rd, we motored to Stamford and the Safe Harbor Yacht Haven and met two fellow "loopers" in a 1988 Carver Californian.  Curt and Chris from Peoria Illinois - they'll finish the loop by October!

On to New York tomorrow for two days! Catch you on the flip side!
